What is an unConference?
An unConference is a flexible, participant-driven answer to a traditional conference. It favors discussion and interaction over talking head presentations.

An unConference starts with a topic and some basic questions attendees can expect to be addressed. From there, conference organizers bring together a group of participants who are smart and passionate about that topic. Then, on the first day of the conference, these participants build the conference’s agenda and act as its speakers and session leaders.

In short, any registered participant at the conference can lead a session.

This way the conference sessions grow directly from the expertise and passions of those participating. The lack of a preset agenda allows attendees to shape a conference to their needs and interests and engage up to the minute ideas.

The One Show Creative unConference is a forum to talk to your peers, learn new things, and build new collaborative networks that will send you out into this shifting landscape energized and ready to lead.

If you're eager for an opportunity to talk to a diverse group of leaders from traditional and interactive agencies, clients from a broad range of industries, and internet media properties then The Creative unConference is for you. Session topics are set the day of the event by the group assembled.

How does an unConference work?
The morning of the conference all participants gather and, under the guidance of a professional coordinator, form the day’s agenda.

8.5 X 11 cards are handed out and any participant who would like to lead a session writes their session’s title and a brief description on the sheet and then posts that sheet on the “Agenda Wall,” a grid that maps out that day’s sessions. Within an hour the day’s agenda is created.

Once the agenda is created an unConference proceeds in much the same way as a traditional conference, with attendees moving through a series of scheduled breakout sessions. The agenda can be changed or modified at any time during the day.

Each Creative unConference session will consist of 8 separate speaking slots allowing for the possibility of up to 40 presentations/discussions.

When attending sessions you are encouraged to follow the "law of two feet." That is, if you are not actively participating in the discussion or feel you are not learning anything from it you are encouraged to use your two feet and move to a different one. No need to wait until the end of the session, simply leave discretely and find the place you were meant to be.

WHAT WILL BE AVAILABLE ONSITE?
Session spaces vary greatly in size and set up. There are spaces appropriate for smaller more intimate gatherings and large spaces suitable for hundreds. Some spaces have chairs; some are open.

All spaces will be outfitted with flip charts. At least 4 will have projectors for presentations.

Space assignments will be made when the agenda is posted based on the needs to the presenter.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Come armed with laptops, presentations, business cards, storyboards, gadgets, questions, opinions, and hare-brained schemes—anything that will help you to interact, share and inspire!

Who is it for?
Creative and Art Directors, Copy Writers, Digital Artists, Producers, Designers, and anyone who is passionate about and working in advertising, design and new media.
